The FDA recently served Coca Cola with a warning letter, because of vitamin claims printed on Diet Coke product containers. (You know you want to read the letter... )
The FDA warned the company that the claims were in violation of federal laws governing the use of the term "plus" and of course, that the vitamin levels present in the soda were not adequate to sustain the claims either. The FDA also stated in the letter that they did not think it was appropriate to fortify a carbonated sugary beverages with vitamins and minerals.
Nice try Coca Cola.
Like any of us are silly enough to believe health claims made by a soda company anyway... It's the same as believing Philip Morris when they say their cigarettes don't cause cancer.
